Re: Strat Resonant Peak
Freq charts dont really exist, there is no accurate way to drive a pickup to see actual frequency response.
Resonant peak is only an indication of the coil properties, it is affected a little by type of magnet but wont tell you too much in that regard, it is very useful to me but is only part of a puzzle. Given two pickups with identical specs in every other sense the resonant peak can give an indication on how the pickup is wound and sounds netx to the other pickup. For instance a V60LP sounds different that a standard V60 and the only difference is the way they are wound, the only way you can tell one from the other is by a resonant peak test, all other specs read the same.

I find it is important to use inductance, resonant peak, DC resistance and of course your Ears.

Alnic3 will increase inductance but are weaker, my very first pickups were Alnic3 I used to think they were great, now I think it is wimpy. Also food for thought, not all magnets are the same, there are many variations of lets say Alnico5 they can all sound different!
