This appears to be a nickel silver alloy, but which one? How thick is the as-formed metal?
"...and just about got all the problems sorted out. The main challenge has been to get a good surface finish with clearly defined round holes, and avoid as much surface pitting as possible. There is still a tiny amount of surface pitting that buffing cannot remove."
What causes the pitting? Is the metal tearing slightly when stretched? It may need to be annealed a bit more, or be a different alloy. Though you probably have tried all that already.
