There would be others on this forum I'm sure that could tell you more about the differences between the HRM and the skyliner, my knowledge is very limited ( it's all from what I've read on the net over the years and talking to a couple of amp owners). I've only ever seen a couple of early '90s amps with that mod, and can only assume it lead to the '97 skyliner style with the extra trimpots. Which model were you thinking of buying?LOL.
