|DCMan||Separate pre and power amps...|
What would be the down side, to making different preamps and power amps in separate chassis, to mix and match (such as a Marshall preamp, a fender preamp circuit) and different power amps, like SE, 2el84, 4 KT88, etc. Seems like you could get a nice variety of tones and select suitable power depending on the size of the venue.
I would asume the power amp would include the phase inverter stage, and the preamps would be everything else before in the circiut.
Is there something inherently different or wrong about doing this, compared to having the whole circuit in one chassis? (other than needing an extra PT for the preamp)
