Lower voltages make notes slower and thicker. It's almost a British/American voice thing, like with the Eminence Patriot/Red Coat speaker voicings. The early Marshalls tended to have higher plate voltages, especially on the preamp plates than the traditional Fender values. Probably a factor... Just some thoughts... ---Wild Bill
