steve | Re: one possible 7199 substitute....... There are also the 6GH8, 6U8 and 6BL8. All three were used in TV sets in the 50s and 60s, so the NOS supply is plentiful and cheap. The only downsided is that none of three were optimized for audio like the real 7199, so they may or may not be as quiet. IIRC, the Sovtek "7199" is nothing more than a repinned Russian 6BL8, as Ray alluded to. steve |
