Don't know if you've tried this, but I would think theres a *very* high posibility that the EF86 has just gone microphonic - I've had it happen on all my EF86 amps. They sound great but EF86s don't last long before going microphonic, especially in combos.
I would try another EF86 and imagine that to be the most likely cause of your problem. fwiw, I've bought primo NOS tested EF86s and they all go squeely after a while (I'm talking Mullard, Telefunken, Siemens etc... here, so it's not so much the quality of the tube so much as the design IMO - that'll be why Vox ditched it in the AC30/4)
