Philip Morrison![]() | Re: standby switch : what is the best ? Guys I like the 5AR4/GZ34 & no standby on my personal amps. Slow turn on(even with current production tubes to the best of my knowledge) takes care of the tube damage concerns. That said, if a standby is desired, my personal preference is the old 'Fender' way. (which is to say just a switch interrupting the B+ after the rectifier or after the first filter node such as #2 above). There are many more complicated methods that also work but I'm a simple guy.
