I should add: if the chassis is bent inward in the center, a small piece of 2x4 wood can be used along with a mallet to straighten it out. I recomend removing all tubes and the pilot light before whacking.  
Select a piece of 2x4 just longer than the width of the chassis, set one edge of the 2x4 against the front edge of the chassis, at the bend, and smack the other end with the hammer as many times as necessary to do the job. Start lightly and work up to harder hits as needed. Don't overdo it or you may break a spot weld.
