Mark Lavelle | Why didn't this suck eggs? I just re-tubed a friend's SF Princeton Reverb that didn't sound bad at all except for being a little weak in the tremolo department, and I was shocked to find that one of the power tubes was a 6K6 and the other appeared to be a 6V6 (can't be sure, as it had no marking left, but it was definitely different internal construction than the 6K6). It sounds a little better with the new, matched 6V6s, but I'm wondering why it didn't sound a lot worse with the apparently mismatched tube types. Discuss... |
