tape saturator?

marco	tape saturator? Someone built this circuit: http://www.netaxs.com/~lxh2/tapesat.html? Is "analog tape tone" really as simple? What about inserting the circuit in a digital delay using the pre-emphasis + diode section before the A/D converter and the de-emphasis section after the D/A? A bonus effect can be a reduction in the possible hi frequency clipping at the converter input. Any advice welcome. Thanks m.
