I thought a number of times of making my own, and tried a number of designs. When it came down to it, I realized I had some real money invested in pedals, and should also invest in something to protect them.  
 
 
 
Hence, I had one made. It seems that every town has one of those hardcase builders. I went to our local one, Maxline, here in Portland Oregon and told them what I wanted. For the price of around 2 pedals, or 1 really nice pedal, I ended up with one heckuva pedal case to MY spec.  
 
 
 
I had a 1/2" channel run the length of the back of the board for tucking the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power A/C cord back in. And I had the overall board itself ramp up giving great access to the top row.
