Eyelets are fast to assemble (faster than turrets IMHO by a good margin) Also quick to repair. A less perfect assembly method as many have pointed out since you use the solder partly for mechanical stability (as opposed to the lead wrapped on the turret..) but IMHO the sheer number of 30yr old Fenders that work great dismisses that issue as a practical matter. I like the way they look, I like the ease of assembly (also why I use puch-back braid wire!). I'm lazy. ;-)  
 
Terminal strips are great, but it's very time consuming to assemble, hard to lay out so it looks nice and neat and takes longer to repair as component leads are wrapped around the lugs.
