Thanks for the troubleshooting, folks! I received a response from Josh Fiden, Prez of Digital Music and thought I should share the following for general interest: "...all true bypass pedals will make some noise when switching. i would try plugging the guitar direct to the pedal, then from the pedal direct to the amp. turn up the volume on your guitar. is the pop noticably louder than the hiss from your guitar when you aren't playing [you bet it is!!-DP]? if it is much louder than the normal guitar hiss with the volume up, then there is probably something wrong. possibly a bad ground connection..." Josh has advised me he'll make it right once they open after a holiday break.
