My experience with Big Muffs is that they can produce some rather muddy tones in the low mid frequencies, perhaps hitting a resonant frequency in the JBLs or the cabinet. You could certainly get the same from other speakers. I personally don't like JBLs for guitar (Great for Bass though) and don't like EVs for anything but P.A. Just an opinion!
