|Barry King||Re: Using Standby Switch to Power Down|
I have seen this advice before, and it makes sense. However, I always get an annoying pop through the speaker when I power down this way. I prefer leaving amps settings as they are but I have taken to turning down the volume control(s) prior to power down to avoid the pop.
This pop occurs on every amp I own including a few high end amps.
Is this 'pop' damaging in any way? Is it indicative of problems? I have heard that it can be but I seriously doubt (hope?) that 4 amps from (3) different manufacturers would all exhibit the same behavior and be wrong right out of the box.
