Tele neck covers -- call me stupid, but... ...how do you get the tangs on those things around the bottom? Is it the two tangs in the front and one in the back, or the reverse? Either way it looks like you have to cut hole in the flatwork. |

The single tang goes through the same hole that your hookup wires go through. The two other tangs bend around the base of the flatwork. You shouldn't need to cut any holes. You may find you have to file off the chrome to get your solder to stick for the ground on the single tang. |

Guess I gotta make that hole a lot bigger -- the two leads barely fit through as it is. |

That's probably because they're cut for that cheap shitty plastic coated hookup wire. |

Probably. I know it gets crowded with the ol' fashioned push-back cloth wire I'm using. |

I make the 'wire hole' slightly bigger in those bobbins before I wind the pickups. I also bend the tangs on the covers slightly so they are easier to get on, and sand the plating off the middle tang so I can solder the ground wire on it. I also put a couple layers of masking tape on top of the cover before I work on it, because I was always scratching those up trying to get them to fit right. Ken |
