Mickey Boy Magnet strength
Thought I would try a magnet swap on some seymour duncan 59's , went for A2's as I thought this would sweeten them up a bit , I was a bit taken aback , they sounded very harsh and very bright and icepicky , the A5's I took out measured 50 guass and the A2's around 25 , is this a usual difference between these mags or are my A2 mags a bit weak , also would it be a case of the 2's being weaker that caused the harsh bright sound?

That's weird, I don't know what to say. It should be a little less output but should also be a lot smoother.

Thats what I would have thought too , I'll swap them back today and see what happens , is 25 gauss around what I should expect from alnico 2 and 50 from alnico5 ?

I heard it was more like 25 for Alnico 2 but only 30 for Alnico 5. These are supposed to be maximums of course, so a partially degaussed magnet will read lower.
