Roscoe humbucker screw coil output
I have 2 humbuckers wound using components from All Parts and they both have a weak magnetic field on the screw coil, both slug coils have good magnetic pull. This is a alnico 5 and everything seems to fit right, it is just weaker on the screw poles. I would think there would be a little better magnetic pull on the slug side but not this much. Any ideas?

Try turning the mags around (the opposite of whatever configuration you have now) and see if it retains the same characteristics...if so maybe something is wrong with the way you assambled the PUs.

Luijo, I tried turning the magnet over with no change. It's almost like the screws and bar under the screw coil dosen't conduct the magnetic field. The magnet is touching the bar and the slugs. I'm a little confused about this.

Hi, It may be that its just a matter of the screws having less physical area than the slugs, therefore having less pull. Kind of like if you took a flat piece of wide steel and put a magnet to it and on the other end put a nail to it, the wide piece of steel would have more magnetic pull than the nail. I checked my humbuckers and the same thing happens, the slugs pull stronger than the screws. Hope this helps. Ben.

Thanks Ben, yea I checked some other humbuckers and got the same thing but not as bad. Maybe I'm losing my mind but it also seems to have about 2/3 the output it should have. O well, I need to go through it again and check for something stupid, there's just not much to check.
