Matt How to make miniture bobbins?
OK well im going to try and experiment with a hex pickup.
But how the hell am i going to make bobbins small enough i.e. hole for pole dia 5mm and overall diameter small enough to fit in line neatly (about 10mm overall. I did think of using sewing machine bobbins, but they were too big.

Has anyone got any suggestions?

cheers
Matt

I have done it, I just cut out some tiny squares of forbon and drilled holes in them- very fussy to do and assemble. I also designed some where I went up to the hardware store and found some fiber washers that were just about right and reamed them out a little to accept the magnet.
Either way its fussy dealing with those tiny parts.

Matt,

Why not wind striaght onto the magnet, wax and then encase the result in epoxy.

We've used this method to make some one-off hex pickups in the past.
