He was great, and truly unique.  
This amazed me --I had no idea he was a drummer too:  
 
"Seals hit the road playing guitar with Earl Hooker in 1963, and soon after that as a drummer with Albert King (with whom he recorded the seminal Stax album Live Wire/ Blues Power)"  
 
I wore the grooves off that record, and had no idea.

Never heard of the guy. I don't live too far from Chicago and the only contemporary blues men I know of from there are Buddy Guy and a guy they call "The Chief."

if the only Chicago bluesman you're familiar with is Buddy Guy, you need to spend more time in the Chicago blues clubs. ;)

yeah, i know The Chief. he was nominated for the best traditional blues album Grammy this year. i'd think that most blues fans in chicago have heard of him.
