Changing acoustic/electric pickup I recently bought a beautiful Takamine KOA wood EG544SC. It looks and feels great to play, but when plugged in, its awful. The electronics on the guitar are less than desirable and the volume extremely low. I can't even use it at gigs. Instead of getting a whole new guitar, I wanted to try and get a new pick-up/ pre-amp installed, but I am curious as to if that is even possible. I would imagine some cutting of the body is involved and would you say its a good idea to do something like this in order to get the sound I really want like lets say having a Fishman installed? Or should i just throw the guitar in the street and go out and buy another darn guitar. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers- Dano |
