Evan B-Band
I was wondering if the B-Band requires a special preamp type as I have the tape PU and tried swapping it into a Baggs pre with no sound at all. Are they active or something? Thanks.

Also All Electronics hve those piezo disks for next to nothing. You could maybe glue 5 in your guitar for a passive fix. Series/Parrralelll. Maybe adding a cap before the output jack would cut down on cord noise?

I hadn't heard of B-Band before but their products sound very interesting! From their site:

Band transducers themselves do not require electrical power, as they are permanently charged electrets. Because of the very high output impedance (typical for condenser microphones) B-Band UST and AST always require a B-Band preamp.

Standard piezo preamps will not work properly. They will produce low output and poor bass response.

As for using 5 piezo disks, the location can be very critical. I imagine that if you were lucky you might find the right combination and it'd sound fantastic! Maybe start with just two and try different locations and linkages.

Here's a link to information about the old obsolete F.R.A.P. systems (I have one and it works great!):

One aquaintance of mine has a b-band system in both of his Larivees and his Collings and they sound extremely natural...

If you want to hear them check out his site and listen to some clips.
