buzz and no sound

buzz and no sound ok well i was jamming out with my friend and all of a sudden the guitar just literally crapped out.I heard this heavy buzzing coming from the amp, but it sounded nothing like fret buzz and when i strummed the guitar i heard a very weak sound coming from the amp (on the dirty channel, all i heard was distorted nothingness). I tried switching cables, then i plugged into my friend's amp, and tried moving the amp around to different outlets around the house and nothing worked, so I'm positive its a problem with the guitar. I play an Agile AL-3500 Prestige with stock pickups (Gotoh GE103B-T and Gotoh GE101AM-T). Thanx |

Basic troubleshooting Ryan: It looks like you narrowed it down to your guitar. To further troubleshoot the problem what happens when you flip the selector switch- anything? Try turning down all of the pots- does that mute the guitar or can you still hear something? A quick guess would be the output jack- it might have twisted around, breaking the ground connection (that would result in the symptoms you mentioned). I see that your guitar is a nice looking LP clone... take a look in the control compartment too for a bad ground connection. HTH Steve Ahola |
