how do I remove coil from housing cover?

how do I remove coil from housing cover? how is the old vintage bobbbin removed from the plastic pickup cover? it's stuck pretty tight and I can't get it out. the pickup is an original melody maker single coil. I don't want to use controlled hot air, controlled hot water, potting wax thinning solvent, for fear of accidently damaging something. the seller told me to slowly meticuously scrape away, with a sharp safety edge razor, the bobbin cover, but isn't that impractical? |

hewo: The cover on mine came right off but that was like 30 years ago. These pickups are pretty crappy so I suggest that you get one of the boutique builders to make you a replacement. I believe that Jason or SK makes a really nice replacement that fits right in. Steve Ahola |
