| kluson guy | Removing rust from saddles??? Any tips on removing rust from saddles. I have an older strat that could use a bit of sprucing up. Thanks! |

| Joey | Use a glass fibre pen. You can find these in motor factor shops. They're for removing spots of rust from car panels. Alternatively, use a spot sand blaster. These are pretty small and will run on a 1 1/2 HP compressor. By using sand which is for children's sandpits rather than the usual grit, you can almost polish the metal after removing the rust. |

A different answer Kluson guy: You might want to put the original saddles aside and replace them with a new set from Stew-Mac, etc. I believe that the saddles once had a coating (chrome?) to prevent rust and that coating is probably gone. If you ever sell the guitar, the buyer might want to have the original saddles so don't throw them out. Steve Ahola |
