brent Lip Stick pickup covers and jaguar pickups
For fender Lip stick pickups they have a metal can cover over the pickup what does this metal can cover do to the pickup?

It makes the pickup sound more tinny and resonance how does it do this?

The jaguar pickups also have metal bars around the pickups what do these metal bars do to the pickups?

Does the Metal Can pick cover make a big different in the sound ? does it add resonance to the pickup?

It can definitely affect the magnetic field.

In my limited experience, I percieve lipstick tube pickups' brightness as being related to the smaller amount of windings on the coil combined with a strong bar magnet. Now, how that cover affects the tone...I can't be 100% sure but I'll geuss that spreading out the magnetic field mellows out the tone a bit. To me, genuine lipstick tube pickups sound thin but not super bright - they don't seem to have that strong bite that some other single coil pickups do.

Everyone else feel free to contradict this with science - my analysis above is only one part science and 4 parts eardrums.
