| John | PAF style pickup recomendation Hi,newbie here. I need some tuition about PAF style pickups for a LP style guitar. It is lightweight, about 3,7 Kg.(about 3,5 lbs). Thanks in advance. |

| Rudy Fanucan | Your guitar is much lighter than a real Les Paul. A good Les Paul weighs in at around 8 lbs. So still much heavier than your guitar. As regards to the choice of PAF you need to tell us what type of sound you're trying to get. Without anything further to go on, I would only recommend something with an A2 magnet that is wound to about 8 K Ohms. |

Metric conversions... John said: It is lightweight, about 3,7 Kg.(about 3,5 lbs). 3.7kg would be approximately 8 pounds 2.5 ounces. Steve Ahola |

| John | Thanks Steve,I meant 8,5 lbs,my mistake. I'm looking for a Free/Bad Company sound I like much,Free specially. So Alnico 2 would be the choice over another magnet? Why? I'd make a google research and I found a Duncan A2 magnet special edition I got very curious about.Anyone tried these? |

Try the Seth Lover humbuckers. They're AlNiCo II and sound good providing they've been wound and wired correctly....something Mr Duncan needs to look into judjing by the number of production errors I've seen lately. |

I strongly recommend HighOrder pickups. They're hand wound and superior quality. I got a Alnico2 8.5k in the bridge and Alnico2 8.0k in the neck, and I couldn't be happier. The guitar they went into didn't see much use in years - now I play it every chance I get. You will not find a better sounding pickup, and the price will make you smile. |

| teleblooz | Re: PAF style pickup recomendation Depending on your pocket book, their is a plethora of fine souning pickups ou there. The suggestion for Seths is a good one. Great sounding pickups as are Duncan antiquities. Dimarzio VV PAF's and Classic PAF's would be great choice for the tones you're after. Highorders are great pickups and a bargain to boot. Higher up the food chain, Lollar Imperials, Dave Stephens Silvers, Wolfes Marshallheads, Wagners Fillmores, Crossroads, Darkbursts, etc will have you glued to your guitar. For bargain tone delights, try Stew Macs Golden Age buckers or the many fine offerings from Gutiar Fetish. |
