One Output Only
Hi,

I have a Huges And Kettener Triamp Mk1. It has two outputs wired in a cab connected but would it be okay to run it with just one of the outputs connected (i.e. into a 2x12 with only on input)? If so would it matter which output is used? I know this isn't really the placer for this question but I can't find anywhere else that it might be able to get answered. Thanks.

The manual is available online at http://www.hughesandkettner.com - then go to SUPPORT, then DOWNLOADS, then LEGACY PRODUCTS to get to the TriAmp MkI manual.

Firefox on OS-X isn't happy with H&K's website, so I can't snag it and read for myself.

For reference, do you have the combo or the head and separate cab (I think the combo is 60W where the head is 100W)?

Good luck!

Naturally, I complain about it and then get around the issue.

OK - this manual has a picture of the rear panel, where there are 4 speaker jacks.

The pair to the left are labeled 1 x 4 ohms 2 x 8 ohms. If your 2x12 arrangement is 4 ohms, use one of these.

The next pair is labeled 1 x 8 ohms 2 x 16 ohms 1 x 16 ohms. If your 2x12 arrangement is 8 or 16 ohms, use one of these.

There are other possible combinations, of course, but this seems clear enough to use.

If you have any other questions, don't be shy.

Oh yeah, that is starange. I swear there is no 1 x 8 ohms etc, on the back of my amp, only says the 2 x 8, etc. Bu they are wired in parallel it says in the manual so as long as I get the resistance right I should be able to just plug the cab into any of the sockets fine? Thanks.

As long as you get the impedance right, you're good to go. It just seems odd that you have fewer outputs than the manual says.

Unless you're running dimed, you can pretty much go up or, preferably, down one step without killing anything.

Alright, cool, thanks. Nah, it';s not fewer outputs, it's just labled differently :P.
