capacitor question
I bought some 47µF , 450v electrolytic caps off of eBay.

I got them sometime yesterday, but the numbn*ts UPS delivery dude couldn't be bothered to ring the bell so they sat out in sub zero temperatures over night.

Do freezing temperatures affect or damage electrolytic caps?

It was -5 F here last night.
Aircraft having $100,000.00 radios with lots of E-caps sit out in the sub zero weather all the time.
I think your E-caps will be fine too.

Bruce,

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd ask.

That car radio sitting in the driveway works every day when it is cold as you care to make it. Didn't hurt those caps either.

on the other hand, if they get too hot, they will die. normal atmospheric conditions here on earth are not capable of reaching the kind of temperatures required to destroy an e-cap.
