What is the best way to clean knobs without losing paint?

I use and ultra sonic cleaner. You can buy them at art or drafting supply stores. They are used to clean technical pens.
Don't forget to buy some cleaning solution.
It works great for any type of small component...and jewelry.

I use a bowl of warm water and a bit of dish soap. An old tooth brush gets into the grooves on knobs like Fender's. SOmetimes I just use Windex.

Thanks for the replies,
My biggest concern was if the paint for the numbering was water soluble. But if Enzo uses water and dish soap on fender knobs, I guess it should be OK then, since these are also fender knob. I'll try it first on one. I have music man amp and I know from experience that the paint wasn't very resistant to cleaning.

If the paint is ready to come off, most anything will knock it free.
