| Rob Mercure | Re: Tube voltage limits and tube regulators Hiatt, Yeah, you can parallel the gas regulators but you need to put a small resistance in series with each - around 10 ohms if I remember correctly, to get them to fire simutaneously. While there were high precision gas regulators made for instrumentation purposes the common ones vary by a few volts each-to-each and one might fire early and then pull down the voltage sufficiently that the other(s) don't fire. Resistors tended to prevent this but I can't recall the specific theory right now. As your purposed go these tubes were often used to keep screen voltages limited - especially when the tubes you propose were used for audio - several examples in 1950 engineering magazines. Rob |
