| anonymous | about to test my voltages I just finished wiring up my high octane and I wanted to know how to set everything up so I can safely/properly test the voltages and see if this baby is going to work. I've got all the test points marked on the schematic but I want to know anything else you can tell of what I need to do (plug it into a speaker? the wall? plug my guitar in? etc.) any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

I would leave the power tubes out. then check the voltages. They will be higher than anticipated without a load but that is OK. put in a 12ax7. see if the 6 volt filliment lights up. then check for a negative bias voltage. set the negative voltage as high as possible before inserting the power tubes. | anonymous | Will I have to plug it into a speker cab for all this? I just remember reading somewhere something about mishaps if the amp is turned on without a speaker load. |

You don't need to attach a speaker (or dummy load) until you insert the power tubes. |

| Devon | Sorry, I'm Devon. Thanks for the help everyone. I'm really nervous/excited about this, being that this is my first amp (and really my first real electronic build of any type) I hope everything works. |
