Help! Repair Shop ideas or amp suggestions ... Help! Repair Shop ideas or amp suggestions for an idot. OK. I am next to (if not fully) an idot at this stuff. I can tear apart cars, build furniture, rewire a house, and teach statistics to Ph.D.'s but can't seem to repair an amp. I give. I have a 5e3 someone built and I bought "as is." It seemed to be working fine, bit now has a noise. It has developed a buzz-fizz-zzztt type sound when I hit a note. It is most noticable when the amp is distorting, and seems to trail the decay of the note, dropping out abruptly near the end of the note decay. It sounds a bit like a blown speaker (it isn't I have tried several), or fret buzz (it isn't I have tried several guitars). I also tried switching tubes. Any clues as to what I should look for here. Or, figuring I am the idot I claim here, ideas about who would be willing to take a look at this type of project on an hourly rate (amp repair person)? |

see my thread, Fizz with Mini Mass. I have a very similar problem. Mine appears only on notes that are distorting already and, and the fizz ends some time before the end of the actual played note. do you have any sound samples? btw, I have no solution as of yet. I've poked around inside, and it doesnt look like its a loose connection. my guess right now is that it's one of the coupling caps leaking DC. WHICH SHOULDNT BE HAPPENING CUZ THE THING IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND BUILT WITH SPRAGUE ORANGE DROPS! sorry, im a little annoyed |

I am willing to pay someone to fix this thing, I just need to know who does these types of repairs. I can't find anything myself. Dale |

| KDakaWalt | I know this may sound stupid but... Check all of your speaker mounting nuts. Next thing to do is open it up and chopstick it. Hope this helps. |
