Tilt back legs
Hi,

I have aquired some Fender (tm) 14 inch tilt back legs that I want to put on my stock sized 5E3 cabinet. These were new in the package with the hardware but I have no instructions. Anyone have info on installing these? I guess I mainly need the hole locations for the bolts and screws. Any drawings in cyberspace?

Thanks,

Clint

Hey Clint,

What a great idea. If you just guestimate and get on side drilled you can then make a template to use on the other side.

Tilt the amp back to the desired angle and support it on something. Hold the leg up to it and find a good working angle, making sure it won't hang lower than the bottom of the amp when upright. Mark your pivot point and drill it. Put the stop button in an appropriate place for the angle you want and drill that hole. (Best to work with the chassis and speaker out of the cab!!)

Mount the leg and stop, make sure it works, remove them and put a piece of cardboard inside the side of the amp and from the outside drill your holes into the cardboard.

Don't flip the cardboard template but move it to the the other side and mark or just drill the holes through. Use a small drillbit when coming from the inside so you don't lift the tweed too much before the bit cuts through. Once you have the small pilot hole through you can drill the proper sized hole from the outside in and you won't damage the tweed. Should be all there is to it.

I might give it a shot myself. My only concern would be heat buildup. Maybe a couple of small holes in the front of the chassis and a small muffin fan to move air around the tubes?

Thanks for your reply.

These tilt back legs have been around a LONG time but there is almost no installation info on them. I am pretty sure I'm not the first to attempt to mount them on a 5E3. The Fender site has no usefull information about installing them. Go figure... I was hoping for something like mount them (so many inches from the back) and (so many inches from the floor)and put the stop so the amp tilts back (a certain amount)... Like the Fender's do.

Anybody got something with the 14 inch tilt back legs they could measure?

Thanks,

Clint

I have a Pro Tube Pro REverb with Tilt back legs. I am not sure of the lenght. I will try and get down there and measure them for you.
