Circuit Board Materials
Question about the board material. Is there a board material 1/6" or 1/8" that is common enough to get at a Hardware store or another type of local store??

Thanks!!

Perf board from radio shack works well. The only draw back is that it has the "perf board" look to it. But who cares.

How does plexiglass work? Or some other common material?? (I guess plexi might melt from the soldering gun?)

Yes plexi melts from the soldering gun. I also had problems with it cracking from drilling and setting the turrets(I imagine eyelets would be just as bad).

For a cheap and easy source of board material try McMasterCarr. Grade" target="_blank">http://www.mcmaster.com/param/asp/PSearch2.asp?reqTyp=parametric&act=psearch&FAM=plastics&FT_128=563&FT_101=46159&FT_130=1622&FT_136=1003&FT_133=582&FT_1290=49284&FT_1339=53167&FT_131=24371&FT_1200=46167&session=plastics,128=563,101=46159,136=1003,1290=49284,1339=53167,131=24371;133=582;130=1622;1200=46167&sesnextrep=421986098626965&ScreenWidth=1024&McMMainWidth=0">Grade XX is cheap, can be ordered in a 3" by 48" strip (did I say cheap? $4.50 per strip) and M-C ships quickly.

The perfboard from Radio shack works good for breadboarding stompbox circuits, but is not good as tagboard or eyelet board.

Plexi is not fireproof. I went to that McMaster site. I came up with a fiberglass product using thier search function.

Plexiglass releases toxic gases when it melts even slightly. In a closed area the fumes can actually kill you. Use it at your own risk in a situation involving hot tubes.
