transformer shielding

transformer shielding I have a preamp/switching system designed which is enclosed in an aluminium casing. Also in the casing is a 120/28VAC power transformer(about 3 inches square) that is causing unwanted hum in the ground wires. By turning the transformer in various directions the hum reduces a little but no position reduces it to a satisfactory level. I tried surrounding the transformer in a small aluminium box but it has minimal or no effect. Is there a good way to shield this transformer so that the hum will disappear? Placing the transformer outside the box is not really an option. Thanks. |
