layout service
Has anyone ever thought about starting a service for amateur builders by taking schematics and turning them into layouts.I have had emails and "perspective customer" try all sorts of tricks to get me to do this for them.Usually for free.
The last one wanted me to extensively mod a 5E3.
Of course he was going to buy all the components
from me after he approved the new layout.
Lots os amatuers can read schematics but just can't turn them into a decent layout.

sounds like a great service.

my layout guy does the impossible, but he's not cheap. sometimes a single four-layer project can end up over $500, but i wouldn't trust anyone else to handle my stuff.

Be honest... your layout guy is one of these fellas doing a bit of moonlighting, right?

Hey Mike-
After doing all my own layouts for years and acquiring the mental skills required to 'think out of the box'....to me it's where your designs live or die and it's where the dreamers get seperated from the doers ! At one time I would have loved for somebody to solve a certain problem, but boy am I glad I persevered and learned it myself from trial and error and from drawing everything out 1:1 first before cutting or drilling anything !! That's sometimes the hardest part, the delayed gratification of finally getting into the real building.

I've had my share of requests for free work and layouts from 'prospective customers' too, too bad these people are everywhere in every type of business. I'm getting better at diplomatically telling them of my time limitations and the actual costs per hour of figuring out their problem- but sometimes they pay ! You never know.

Back to the drawing board,
Alexander
