More on Magnet bevelling
Soem of you will remember the post awhile back on magnet bevelling, where I had found a diamond disk for my Dremel rotary tool for bevelling rod magnets...
Well, after many many magnets, it's still holding up pretty good.
However, I think I have found another tool that will work pretty good, maybe even better. Surely it'll give a bit more control for precision bevelling.
Take a look:

Sure, it's a bit pricey. But instead of having to reach down, turn on the Dremel and HOPE that first contact and angle is ok, just chuck the magnet, turn on the drill, and brush this little diamond-plated block along the magnet edge.
I found that Revlon nail files work EXCELLENT for magnet bevelling. Problem is, they wear down quickly. But, they do make a nice, **SMOOTH** bevel.
I think I'll have to get one of these diamond blocks...

Look in reactive jewlery supplies for cup burs, its for rounding over the ends of wire, it should work well, and cheap too.

Wolfe, How's it going? I can't seem to reach you thru your wolfe@masterpeice.com e-mail. I may have some diamond pads at work that would suit your needs. They are made by 3M, comes in several grits. we use them for breakig edges on our ceramic parts. Shoot me your new address and I'll send you a couple.

Wolfe , I use a nail file too.
Stew-Macs diamond blocks should great , a bit pricey though , as you say.
I only bevel the rods on side , the side who are on the topplate side.
Wolfe , Do you bevel both sides ?

Yes, I bevel both sides, because I don't like to have to puch the bottom flangs down the lenght of the magnet...my feeling it is can cause it to loosen the hole.
I don't do a huge bevel though, so the bobbin still has plenty of magnet surface to grip.
