Standard tolerance for pickups
I've unwind 2 dead pickups a little bit a Razor Tele Neck Pickup and a old -73 Fender Jazz Bass Bridge Pickup.
The Razor Pickup should have 9.5 k , after a little bit of unwinding it now reads 8.9k,
Jazz Bass pickup now reads 6.9k , took off 0.36k .
Both pickups are now funtioning.
Iīm wondering , what is standard tolerance for resistance on pickups ?
On the Fender Forum someone said standard tolerance for pickup winding is +/- 10% , so if thatīs true these two pickups are ok , 10% sounds a bit to much to me.
Is it ok take off some wire and still call them by their "real names" ?
Or should I just rewind them ?

sorry, I don't know what to tell you. I suspect 10% is correct, but I don't know for certain. As for what you call the ones you modified, doesn't matter as long as you call them modified. Personally I'd want to call them modified "whatever" so as to not take "credit" for something I didn't wind...
