It's a Grizzly mini wood lathe
...but not for long.

The "SK" lathe->pickup winder conversion is afoot.

Seems fine but with one flaw.

The faceplate as shipped is visibly out of true.
So whaddya expect for $140 US?

It's a WOOD lathe, not a metal lathe. You think I want cast iron dust all over something that handles magnetic thingies?

sheesh.

Where'd you get your 1-1/4" diameter UHMW polyethylene rod stock? Steel tubing is ~.55 per inch at metal mart and the nearest plastic (Nylon) is twice that. McMaster-Carr sez acetal copolymer is the stuff ... for a mere $5.70/foot. argh.

The steel pipe is looking good.

Oh, And cut down the existing rails (I didn't because I hate giving up it's other possible use) But it'll be easier. Also, make a metal base for the tailstock, mine has a little play (but only when excess pressure is applied)
