Re: Pickup makers annoy me! Wolfe , I'll be your first customer on that instructional CD-Rom. Great idea ! Hope you give that CD-Rom "top priority" , so I can have it soon. A bit surprised someone hasn't done it already , been thinking of doing this myself , but I'm not good enough ,yet. The only thing I found available is StewMacs "Lindy Fralin Video" , 2 hours long but not much about winding techniques. A lot of talk and very little action. Wolfe , send me an e-mail when itīs finished and I'll buy one right away. Great idea Wolfe ! Go for it , man! Gunno |

We've all considered the "one stop shop", and have tried to make it "doable". Jason presently does something to that effect to a small degree. The problem is it's really not profitable. There is way too much cash outlay to be fully "stocked". Quantity purchases in order to get a decent price. About the "minimum" cash outlay for any one item would be $100.00+ and then when you get it all, you'll sit on it for quite a while. Plus, some stuff just isn't readily availiable...(so we do without) Most of us would like to see it happen, but I really think "makers" are too small a group... |

I can see what your saying and agree . But Jason has opened the door and by making things a little easier this area would prosper . If things are going well , shelf life should shorten . Up until 2 weeks ago I had never thought of winding pups . Now I can't wait to make my first set of bad ones . This is all going to bloom and I think it's going to happen pretty rapidly if things are in place and the info is out there . I got on the net in the late 90's somewhere and at the time amp building was not as easy to find or buy parts for . Now look at it .... I don't mean to come across the wrong way .. I think it's coming out like I'm frustrated but I'm not really . I know the woes of mins every time I build an amp for someone . I get it . But like I said , Demand is going to climb and there is no real supply in place . Make it easy and they will come . DIY's expect to pay a little extra . Marking up is expected to a point . And maybe the point isn't how much extra you can make off the supplies , but how much will it bring your costs down so your profit per pup is better . Azul |

Thanks Wolfe. Can you or anyone tell me how to find alnico III bar magnets on the AZ website or is contacting them effective? Thanks azul and Wolfe for continuing to lobby for the little guy. I'm pretty much interested in repair and modding at this point. Can't see setting up for building anytime soon due to busy guitar business. I think supplies will eventually pick up momentum as time goes on, and as for the guys already well down the road like SK, etc., the cream rises to the top. |

Larry Contacting AZ works well. I don't remember if I got a quote for A3 bars, but I think I did at one point. I lobby for the litle guy because I am one myself. I grew extremely frustrated in my hunt for supplies, to the point where it would drive me nuts. (and still am frustrated by some things) By the way, every time I see your name, I think of Larry Niven, a great Sci-Fi author. WOlfe |

Did he write "Pickup Winders from Uranus"? (I didn't want to stray to far off subject, so I had to say something annoying) I'm still working on becoming a great reply writer, then I'll work on thread writing. What kind of minimum order do they have? I've seen references to sintered material, is this what I want to ask for, or not? Thanks,Wolfe |

Sorry, Nope. That's Steve Ripley. Although It WOULD Be Nice to Have His Extra Spending Cash. |
