Different magnetic-field on the polepieces When you put on new strings on a Telecaster you get that wonderful "trebly sound" on the wounded basstrings and you turn on high volume and just a little more treble on the amp and the wounded basstrings sounds just more wonderful , BUT the unwounded strings sounds painful. And I thought maybe using different magnetic-field for the wounded and the unwounded strings.Something that will make the unwounded strings sound a bit warmer. Any experience on this subject? |

Seymour Duncan has a Five Two tele pickup that uses Alnico V for the wound strings and Alnico II for the unwound ones. <http://www.seymourduncan.com/website/products/telesdescr.shtml#fivetwo> -drh -- |

Thanks Dr Strangelove, So Seymour-Duncan has already done it. As they say "Nothing new under the sun". |

But you haven't...not yet. Duncan makes a lot of different pickups, but that never stopped anyone here from trying their hand at a good idea. Me, I'm different. I seem to try out bad ideas. -drh -- | |

Dr Stranglove, It doesn't stop me either even if Seymour-Duncan already done one. AND I do test new ideas even good ones and bad ones , I like that. |
