I *thought* it was same wire guage(42) w/ fewer turns to get a somewhat lower output. But I don't have any specs handy....

Re: Filter-trons...The Authority on FilterTrons
If you want to talk about FilterTrons, I suggest talking to Tom Jones of TV Jones Guitars.
From what I understand, he owns the rights to the FilterTron pickups, and does the best reproductions around, and I think he even build them for Gretsch.
I've extended an invitation to Tom to join the forum, here's hoping he'll poke his head in here and give a bit of insight to the FIlterTron Pickups!

Chris B Will Filter-trons fit in a PAF mounting ring?
I'm curious about what a pair of Filtertrons would sound like on a solid body guitar like a Gibson Les Paul double-cutaway. Does anyone make a mounting ring for putting mini-humbuckers on a guitar routed for PAFs?

The mini is not the same form factor as the filter tron or regular humbucker. TV Jones makes a HB sized filtertron that I am tempted to put in a tennesean that had been routed out for HB's years ago. If someone has experiance with the hb sized tv jones PU's, let me know what you think.

Ever heard of Melancon guitars? I stuck my head in Gerard's shop the other day to say hi, he had a few really choice looking tele-type guitars with filtertrons on them.
I didn't play it, though.

I've been tempted to try some of those TV Jones Filtertron pickups for ages (the ones that fit in a humbucker size package).

I chickened out and got a Rio Grande 'fat bastard' instead, but someday I'll have to get one of the TV's for that Malcolm Young Rhythm tone.

Pickups seem to me to have little to do with the tone of the guitar. More to do with contruction and wood IMHO. I put HB's in a gretsch years ago....still was'nt a 335!!!!
