Re: Capacitance I test all of mine with an LCR meter. for capacitance I use the 2uf range and get readings of .03-.04 for singlecoils, P-90's run around .04 typicly, and humbuckers in the mid .02's-.03. finer wire reduces the capacitance(?) and overwinding increases it. I think inductance is a better number for output than dc resistance. I haven't got this all worked out to a science (nor do I want to) I record the numbers and use them for comparative purposes. I'm not exactly positive how it all works out empirically. |

Just to add to this.... capacitance, once you've been working with it a while can quickly give you a pretty accurate indication of wire size without measuring the wire or disassembling the pickup, etc... of course this is in relation to inductance and resistance. Tone |
