Re: Yet another prespective. Joe, must we cry reading this? Are these facts or just plain sentimentalisms. Give me a break. Whenever will Iraq ever be a real and effective danger to the U.S.? You believe that, you're about believing everything. Even the fact that a fart smells fine. Beeing it an american fart of course. How far will you go and how low will you sink just to justify that what you're dooing. You put the man on the post, now you will take him down. And you wonder why the rest of the world accusses you of arrogance? Give it some hard thought. Ben |

--Are we supposed to believe that left wing America haters have an inside scoop on everything because they know how to search the internet for conspiracy theory websites that support their own agenda?-- These aren't 'conspiracy theory websites'. And nobody here hates America. They just hate what's being done to it. http://www.newamericancentury.org is the official website of the Project for the New American Century (PNAC), a thinktank set up by Cheney, Rumsfeld etc. in the mid-Nineties. I'd also presume that the NSS document Tim mentions (which I haven't read) is published by the White House. BTW, Dave -- Thanks for pointing up Ben's mistakes in English. How's your Dutch? Robert |

| jackson | That is a real eye opener. So, who is next on the list? |
|---|---|
| Tim | The NSS document is the official doctrine of the White House. Almost all of it came directly from the PNAC and an earlier document of 1992 that Richard Perle wrote. All public record. PBS did a Frontline not long ago about this. The Washington Post also has done articules on it as well. This is not some conspiracy theory. |

Robert, Mijn Nederlandze is fijne, maar u bent niet If you hate what is being done to America, surely you must have a better solution than the current administration. Let me guess, you think Bill Clinton could do a better job. Dave |

--Mijn Nederlandze is fijne, maar u bent niet Touché No, I don't think a rerun of the Clinton administration is much of a solution. It's not an issue of who's in the White House, it's an issue of consent: a step towards a positive solution would be Americans making it clear that they will not give their consent to policies which ride roughshod over pretty much everyone who can't fight back (tax cuts for the rich; cuts in education, health & veterans' benefits; refusal to endorse environmental reforms and arms limitation treaties; new restrictions on freedom of speech, draconian reforms to the legal system; etc. etc.). This war is just another extension of the Bush administration's general dogma: if they can't fight back, fuck 'em. Ways to make your views clear would range from speaking to your friends about your concerns, to writing to your local representatives, to public protest, civil disobedience, refusal to pay taxes etc. etc. There's a whole spectrum. Withdrawal of consent makes a big difference if it's done en masse: it pretty much stopped the Vietnam war, and effectively made it impossible for the US to wage that kind of war again. Wars now have to be lightning fast, otherwise the public gets pissed off and starts voting people out (or demanding their impeachment). I know I'm probably coming off preachy here, but it just depresses the hell out of me that your nation (and mine -- I'm a Brit, by the way) are getting away with all this. They're taking us for a ride, and we're paying the price. Robert |
