Am I the first?
Hi,

First off, nice job on the site, well done!

I just purchased one of the Fostex VC8 20 bit
8-channel analog/lightpipe converters. This
plus the 4 analog ins of the Core2 gives me
12-channel input.

It will be put to the test very soon as I'm
starting a CD project mid-november.

Will be recording:

Drums
Percussion (Congas & toys)
Upright bass
Nylon string & Electric guitar
Vocals.

Running the Core2 in a 850mhz PIII/VIA PC
with 2 IBM 7200rpm 40gig drives.
Plextor CDR, Turtle Beach Fiji w/Digital I/O.

Had to modify the older VIA Apollo BIOS with
a BIOS tweak utility to gain maximum
performance. Runs great now, never and pops
or clicks.

Hi Howard!

Thanks for giving the new forum a try. You are indeed the first one in.

I bought a Core2/MP100 a few weeks ago, and just got around to installing it a few days ago. My intended use for it is kind of the reverse of what you're doing; I wanted to use it mainly as an I/O expander and effects bus for the Digi001/ProToolsLE system installed in my Mac.

Well, so far it's not going too well. The install went smoothly enough, all by the book, but it's just not working. The Windows Device Manager says it's working, but the Sounds and Multimedia Control Panel says "Driver is enabled but inactive due to an unknown problem." Interestingly enough, the wave driver for my voice modem says the same thing. The only wave driver that IS working is the one for the motherboard's onboard sound chip (creative/ensoniq 1373). I tried disabling this, both in BIOS setup and Device Manager, but it didn't help - just left me with no sound at all. :(

Oh, well. That's how my Core2 adventure is going so far - I hope it picks up soon. :)

Update: Got it working
The cause of my problems turned out to be the driver update I had installed for my computer's embedded sound hardware. Although it did work, it apparently was not quite the right driver for this particular Creative/Ensoniq ES1373 implementation, and caused all other sound devices in the system to be non-functional.

The Core2, sound card, and voice modem now all appear to be working properly under Windows ME.

BOVÉ Re: Am I the first?
Hi
my name is Bové writing from salvador bahia, i have a core 2 and want to know if anyone knows anyone else suffering with trying to get it to work with samplitude, 2496, really a stuggle, stuff like limited track recording, playback bogs after only a few tracks and none of the moves in the mixer, move in real time, what´s the point to write automation if the changes happen 500 ms fter the move!!!!!!!!
