Deluxe Reverb clone
Hello

I'm working on building a Deluxe Reverb clone as my Christmas project.

Ill be building this from parts I have been accumulating over the years.

The cabinet is an original BFDR cab, complete with reverb pan. The baffel board appears to be un-original. The chassis is a mojo chassis, so I will be building up the chassis.

My question is, should I build this completly as a BFDR, or should I put some larger trannies in it and make it a 30 watt (approximate) 6L6 based amp, in cathode biased mode.

I really like both style amps, and I have the parts to do either.

I'll toss it up to the group to help me decide.

Thanks

Hi Scoops

A stock DR OT will work with cathode biased 6L6s ( add a "cb/6L6"-switch on the back if you can't decide ) but a bigger OT , and PT , will give you more volume / lows any way if it's a good quality one .

happy XmasEvening ,

Ps How's the mojo-chassis ( also price-wise ) ? Do have an old sf DR cab over here , just the cab .....

What I'll prolly end up doing is putting in the stock PT with a beefier OT. The OT I have is a pretty good one (Hoffman). The nice thing about this OT is that it has 4-8-16 ohm outputs. If I wire out the outputs, I can substitute 6V6's with 6L6's and change the speaker so that I have a matched impedance with an 8 ohm speaker load being constant. The "cb/6L6"-switch on the back will happen.

The mojo chassis is pretty good. All the holes are in the right places, and are the right size. It's a little pricey, even at dealer cost. It would not be able to pass as a fender chassis though. There are some visible differences.

Sorry, no cab.

Ho Ho Ho , Jingle Be.. amps :D :)

Hi Scoops

6L6s will work very good with a 6k6 to 8k primary load . Lemme know about the cb/6L6-switch results in your amp .

About the DR :
I only have the cab over here so I "just" need a chassis ( and lots of other parts ) . Building a bf/sf DR will probably cost more then purchasing a 2nd hand sf DR so I'll be using the cab/chassis/etc. for a 25 Watt CMW prototype with a Celestion G12H30 .

Thanks for your MojoChassisNotes !

Chris
