SOURCE FOR CHOKE IN UK...
Need a choke for my Bogner 'brew (4xEL34 or maybe KT88) - will probably end up with KT88s.

I've looked at Sowter and they seem a bit pricey, anywhere else?

Cheers... Ian :)

Peter,

That link doesn't work and the site doesn't show up if I cut/paste it - are you sure it's correct?

Cheers,

Their 'VTL103100' model looks about right (£21.67 inc VAT & delivery)

***** Specification *****
    Inductance 10 Henry.
Frequency range from 45 to 130 Hz.
    Nominal current 180mA DC.
    Optimised for HT rail smoothing.
    DC Resistance about 35 ohms.
Isolation winding to mounting 4000 VRMS test.
Suitable for the Mullard 5-20 Amplifier.

Does that look okay for 4xEL34 (or even 4xKT88)????

Cheers... Ian :)

are you talking the entire amp? or just the screens and preamp?

if you are talking the entire amp then no way jose! i have one pair of EL34s AB1 PP at 70-240ma. but for just the screens and preamp, unless you have *loads* of preamp tubes you will be fine.

your looking at about two mA per triode section (ECC83) and about 10ma per screen (EL34s etc) this should be more than up to it.

hope this helps
