What pots with .090 Aluminum chassis? Hi, Now when I won the long hard fight restoring my sound when throwing in these new mouser alpha pots I think they still keep hating me...I have not inch meter now in my hands, but I have bad thoughts already that they're not gonna fit at all 0.090 thick chassis (including faceplate!) which I planned to do. They hardly fit to this thin marshall steel chassis! Is there different models of these alpha pots and I bought the wrong ones? It seems that CTS work slightly better...but I also see that in my super reverb fender had "thinned" the chassis a bit around the screws. WTF?? Mikko |

| MJ Harnish | You're using the 24mm ones right? Or are you talking about the 16mm mini-pots? I can't answer your question specifically since I haven't used a chassis that thick before but I have used the alphas with a Fender steel chassis with no problems. I've also used them for making fx pedals with Hammond boxes which are pretty thick (don't know how though off the top of my head). Make sure you are cutting off the little anti-rotation nub and using a thin, toothed washer instead. If you look in the Mouser catalog they have the dimensions for the pots which ought to help. MJ |

Cut the nubs, they will fit fine after that.. no washers needed... |

| MJ Harnish | Well we all sometimes miss the obvious. |

So.... ...how many of you guys use the 24mm Mouser/Alpha pots? I usually use them. I love the feel and have no complaints about the 'tone' (whatever that means, some people say they sound bad?? I can't hear it) or taper. They've been more robust then other pots I've tried which feel cheap, are lightweight, and even fail (through heat or use, not sure). The last round of Alpha 1M I ordered are maybe funny on the taper and read about 940K, but otherwise I've been very happy. Inexpensive... I always snip that nub too. Maybe I've just never known great pots, but they work great for me. How many of yous guys use 'em? Just wondering about other peoples experience and if I'm missing out on any Holy Grail pots out there (besides Clarostat which I just won't buy in small quantities due to the price). |

I've used them on every amp I've built. They work great with the Hammond .040 thick aluminum chassis, but I've found that if you grind the nub only a little, you can get the pot to stay still and also fit a face plate without drilling extra holes in the face plate. Chris B | |
